Regular readers will know that She Who Must Be Obeyed is a Canterbury girl. And she didn't take too much persuading to agree to a night at AMI Stadium tonight when we discovered that we were going to be in town for the Crusaders' must-win match against the Reds tonight.
So we're off to the footie later this evening; our second trip to the intimate venue at Addington. And even though the Hurricanes are our preferred Super Rugby side, we'll definitely be cheering for the Crusaders tonight.
It should be a cracking match. Both sides are full of test match talent, but the Crusaders look to have hit form at the right time of the season. They'll be a lot tougher up front with Luke Romano back tonight, and then there's that McCaw joker waiting on the bench; he's bound to get game-time in the second half.
There are some fantastic match-ups right across the park, but none bigger than the two first-fives; Dan Carter for the Good Guys, and Quade Cooper for the Reds. Cooper is sure to get a roasting from a partisan crowd tonight, but he will be determined to prove that having been left out of the Wallabies for the Lions series, he deserves an international recall from new coach Ewen McKenzie.
It's overcast in Christchurch, but the sun is trying to break through. Conditions should be almost perfect at AMI Stadium. It will be a cool night, but we've come prepared.
We're predicting a narrow win to the home side tonight; perhaps by seven to ten points. It should be an absolutely cracking match with the winner progressing to next week's semi-finals, and the loser's Super Rugby season ended.
Bring it on; we can't hardly wait.
