Quote of the Day - 23 July 2013

Patrick Gower digs David Shearer's hole a little deeper, whilst honing in on the Labour Party's leadership vacuum (with our emphasis added):

But Mr Shearer is on notice. A Labour MP has told 3 News Mr Shearer has until spring to improve the polls or he could be out.
It follows issues, like a 'brain fade', forgetting to declare an offshore bank account with up to hundreds of thousands of dollars in it, that visit with fellow Labour MPs in the SkyCity corporate box at the rugby, and the man-ban mess.
Asked who else should do the job, David Cunliffe was the favourite – 26 percent want him – same with Labour voters. Deputy Grant Robertson was on 16 percent – about the same with Labour people. Former union boss Andrew Little is on 9 percent, popular with Labour voters though, on 15 percent.
The most popular contender is actually "don't know/someone else" – 50 percent of people had no idea, and 42 percent of Labour voters couldn't choose either.

The last paragraph should be worrying Labour the most; when 42% of their own supporters are wanting "don't know/someone else" to lead the party, Labour is in all sorts of trouble.
