Stevie-watch

Kiwi golfer Steven Alker has just embarked on possibly the most important round of his golfing career. He has just teed off in the second round of the Web.com Tour's Cox Classic at Omaha.

Alker shot an even-par 71 on the first day, ending the day in a tie for 107th and outside the all-important Top 25. He is still even par through twp holes today. The projected cut is at 3-under, so he needs to make a move.

You can follow the live scoring here if you are so inclined. The number to the left of the player's name is the critical one, and at the moment the number beside Alker's name is 26; that's one number too high. But every time the leaderboard refreshes the numbers change, as the system predicts finishing places.

If Steven Alker can make the cut at Omaha, he will almost certainly be off to the Big Tour in 2014. If he just misses the cut, his fate will be in the hands of others; never a desirable outcome. We are right there with him, in spirit at least.
