Justin's 15-year journey
Justin Rose burst onto golf's biggest stage in 1998 when he was low amateur at the Open Championship. He turned professional the next day, and immediately found the pay-for-play ranks to be very tough going.
But a 15-year journey has had a happy ending. Rose has just won a dramatic US Open victory at Merion, by two shots from perennial runner-up Phil Mickelson and Australian Jason Day.
No player broke or even equalled par at Merion, despite the course being one of the shortest US Open courses in recent years. Rose finished at one over par for the tournament, after closing with a mature and composed even-par 70.
We send our hearty congratulations to Justin Rose. He has paid his dues, and his first victory in a Major removes him from contention for the title that no professional golfer wants; best player never to have won a Major. Whatever else he achieves in his career, he will forever be the 2013 US Open champion.
