Tweet of the Day - 15 July 2013

With the first Ashes test match having concluded in dramatic fashion, we were looking for a cricket-themed tweet to fill this spot today. The one from former Australian batsman and motor-mouth Dean Jones claiming a "moral victory" for Australia (despite the fact that they lost!) was a contender, until we saw this:


Great stuff. As far as THAT decision goes however, we do not condemn Broad for staying put, and given the record of several Australians over the years neither, we expect, will they.

Instead it was a dreadful decision by umpire Aleem Dar; precisely the kind of decision that the UDRS is designed to eliminate from the game. Unfortunately for Australia. Michael Clarke had exhausted all the available reviews, and so Dar's decision stood, as did Stuart Broad.
