Kim Dotcom's appearance before the Intelligence Committee today will have far more to do with political posturing than it will to do with the legislation being considered by the committee.
Sure; the raid on Dotcom's house and the surveillance of his prior to his arrest was very badly handled. But that does not change the fact that there are still serious criminal charges outstanding against Dotcom in the US, and that there is a strong likelihood that he will eventually be extradited to the US to face those charges.
Herr Dotcom may have done New Zealand a favour by exposing a flaw in our surveillance laws. But we reckon that will be the least of One News' concerns today as it sniffs out a sensational story with which to lead the "news" tonight.
